Interior French Drains

Interior French Drains

Interior French drain is an effective solution for the diversion of water. Hydrostatic pressure is the main cause of water coming up though the basement floor. Installing a drain below grade will divert the water to the sump pit. This will save your home and give you peace of mind.

Steps are as follows.
  • Break concrete floor for sump pit install. (inside basement)
  • Break concrete floors around interior footings
  • Remove concrete and earth from the trench around 1 foot deep
  • Install geo textile inside trench
  • Install platon (dimple board) on foundation walls
  • The French drain (weeping tile) is then installed around the footings.
  • Core thru footing in desired area for the installation of the sump pit.
  • Install sump pump for the discharge of any waters.
  • Platon (dimple board) is then fastened to wall with a pneumatic nail gun, then sealed with moldings and polybitume (waterproofing caulking membrane) to ensure no water infilitration.
  • 24 inches of ¾ clean gravel is then placed with an additional layer of geo textile on top to prevent contamination of the drain.
  • The area is then backfilled and graded. Excess backfill is removed and the area is then cleaned.
